Accidental Child Shootings and Gun Safety

A 4-year-old boy fatally shot himself in the head over the weekend, prompting ABC2 In Focus to take a look at accidental child shootings and gun safety.

According to gun control advocacy group Everytown , there were about 265 accidental child shootings in the U.S. in 2015 –  83 of those were deadly.

Maryland has child access prevention laws when it comes to firearms. Any gun owner is required lock up their firearms around children under the age of 16.
